Divas Champion Natalya & Beth Phoenix would like nothing better than to teach Michelle McCool & Layla some manners. And at WWE TLC, they will try and “set the table,” against Team Lay-Cool in the first-ever Divas Tag Team Tables Match.

The reign of self-professed “Co-Divas Champions” Michele & Layla came to a sudden halt at Survivor Series, when third-generation Diva Natalya captured the Butterfly Title in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match, making Michelle tap-out with the Sharpshooter. When the “flawless” duo attacked the new champion after the match, Beth Phoenix surprised the WWE Universe, reemerging from an injury that Lay-Cool caused several months ago to clean house. The Glamazon exploded onto the scene, taking out both members of Team Lay-Cool before helping Natalya celebrate her history-making new title reign.

For the next few weeks Beth Phoenix continued to be a thorn in the side of the former champions on SmackDown, taking them out as they were mocking Hornswoggle and stopping Michelle’s interference as Layla took on Natalya.

But business was about to pick up for Lay-Cool just days before WWE TLC. One-half of SmackDown’s resident “Mean Girls,” the ornery Michelle McCool, eliminated Natalya in the Diva Battle Royal – netting she and her conceited cohort Layla not only the Slammy for Diva of the Year, but also the opportunity to inflict damage on the blonde beauties in the first-ever table encounter of its kind.

Will Divas Champion Natalya and her best friend The Glamazon leave splinters in Team Flawless, or will the Michelle McCool & Layla have the last laugh?

Following weeks of verbal and physical jabs courtesy of self-professed “co-Unified Divas Champions” Lay-Cool, Natalya will no doubt seek retribution against the taunting tandem – and capture their butterfly-emblazoned title – at WWE Bragging Rights.

Natalya last collided with WWE’s Mean Girls at Hell in a Cell, where Layla threw a shoe at Natalya to intentionally disqualify defending Unified Divas Champion Michelle McCool. Although Layla technically cost her BFF the match, she also rescued Michelle from Natalya’s excruciating Sharpshooter – a maneuver she added to her repertoire as a tribute to her uncle, WWE Hall of Famer Bret “Hit Man” Hart.

As the first female graduate of the legendary Hart Dungeon, Natalya has never backed down from a fight, and while one might think Lay-Cool’s constant bullying would be discouraging, Michelle & Layla’s torment has only bolstered Natalya’s desire to win her first championship in WWE.

However, it remains unclear which member of Lay-Cool Natalya will be battling at Bragging Rights. As stipulated by SmackDown’s Special Consultant Vickie Guerrero, either Michelle or Layla can defend the title. Regardless of who is actually competing in the match, the WWE Universe can expect both members of Lay-Cool to play a role.

Returning from injury to capture the Divas Championship at SummerSlam, Melina has every reason to be in a celebratory mood these days. However, SmackDown’s resident “mean girls,” Women’s Champion Layla and McCool, have bullied the Latina lovely over the past several weeks with a series of verbal and physical assaults. When Team Lay-Cool revealed they had a surprise in store for Melina on Raw’s 900th episode celebration, the Divas Champ was justifiably skeptical.

Confronting Melina with a dose of their infamously candid “real talk,” Lay-Cool accused the Diva of being “forgettable,” proposing a Championship Unification Match at Night of Champions to determine the most deserving titleholder in the Divas division. Either Michelle or Layla would battle Melina, and the winner would leave Night of Champions with both the Women’s and the Divas Championships, unifying the titles for the first time in history.

Melina accepted the challenge, but given Lay-Cool’s inclination to bend the rules, the Divas Champion demanded that every WWE Diva on the roster be at ringside as lumberjills to ensure that this is indeed a fair fight – a near-foreign concept to the cunning “Co-Women’s Champs.”

But since the challenge, things may not have been so flawless in the Lay-Cool camp. Just two days before Night of Champions, the duo could not decide who would face Melina. The solution? Have newest SmackDown Superstar and WWE NXT season two winner Kaval draw names from a hat. After Michelle’s name was drawn, Layla realized every piece of paper in the hat had Michelle’s name on it. Furious, Layla vowed not to be there for Michelle at Night of Champions.

In what will no doubt be one of the most unique (or should we say “flawless?”) bouts at Night of Champions, Divas Champion Melina will face one half of the self-proclaimed “Co-Women’s Champions,” Team Lay-Cool, in a match that will unify the Women’s and Divas titles – a feat of such magnitude that every WWE Diva will be at ringside to witness it.

Considering how dominant a force “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix is among the land of Divas, it’s hard to believe the last time she held the Women’s Championship was January 2009.
