Author: Emma Date: September 25th, 2010 Categories: Interviews, WWE.Com Comments: 0 ![]() For self-professed “co-Unified Divas Champion” Michelle McCool, making history seems to be part of her gig. The former schoolteacher and WWE Diva Search contestant has found her way into some of the biggest moments in Diva history of recent memory – the last being the unification of the women’s titles at Night of Champions. One-half of Team Flawless took time out of her busy Diva-bashing schedule to sit down with WWE.com.
WWE.com: Describe the feeling of walking out in front of a sold-out Chicago crowd knowing you were going to be in a match that was guaranteed to be historic. Michelle McCool: It was awesome. To think that we’re in the history books, that just boggles my mind. It hasn’t hit me yet. It could be today, tomorrow or years from now when I look back and say it was really cool. Lay-Cool, we had our backs against the wall. We had all the Divas against us. We knew we couldn’t beat them all together – but we knew we could outsmart them. And, that’s exactly what we did. WWE.com: What does it mean for there to be one title in the Divas Division? Michelle: I think it opens up a lot more opportunities. It’s sad that it won’t be the Women’s Championship we are holding, because there’s so much prestige with it. But who knows, Trish Stratus retired with it a few years ago – maybe it’ll come back again. It’s an absolute honor to be carrying the championship on my shoulder. It’s a proud moment. WWE.com: You seem to be the history-making Diva, winning the first-ever Divas Championship in ’08, first Diva to have held the Divas and Women’s Titles and now this. Where do you see your place in history with the likes of Trish Stratus, Wendi Richter, Fabulous Moolah or Sherri? Michelle: Believe it or not I’m really a humble person. To hear my name spoken in the same sentence as those women is a true honor to me. Where do I stand in history? That’s kind of hard to tell – that’s really up to the WWE Universe. WWE.com: Technically, you got the pin at Night of Champions. Critics might say that Layla is “piggybacking” off your success. Michelle: You see, people are just jealous of us. We had in our contract that either one of us could defend the title. They said the same thing when Layla “technically” got the pin on Beth Phoenix. We have this bond that is unbreakable. People are just jealous they don’t have someone in their lives like Layla or myself. We’re not going anywhere, and like it or not, you’re going to have to deal with us. Author: Emma Date: September 21st, 2010 Categories: NXT Results Comments: 0 Matt Striker welcomes the ladies and tells them in two weeks we have our first elimination. As Striker is listing the Rookie’s accomplishments thus far, Vickie Guerrero interrupts. She comes out to the ring, shrieking. She says what Kaitlyn did last week was impressive, but it was because of Vickie that she did so well. Tonight, she’s facing Jamie. And to make sure she succeeds, she has brought some friends to help coach her.
Out comes Laycool, with matching Diva’s Championship Belts. They flatter Vickie and tell Kaitlyn to be thankful to have her as a pro. They take credit for Kaval winning Season 2, and suggest Kaitlyn pay attention. They pick on Jamie for having The Bella Twins as pros. They run down each Rookie one by one. McCool says that Maxine, “the one in black”, scares her and tells Aksana to “speak English”! LayCool continues that A.J. looks like a “cute little mouse” and accuses Naomi of looking at Kaval and saying that Kaval is the “property of LayCool”! Kelly Kelly has had enough! She comes to the ring and challenges it be a three-on-three tag match: Kelly Kelly and Naomi and Jamie vs. LayCool and Kaitlyn. LayCool accept! We go to the ring and out first come the Lumberjills. We see Layla, Maryse, The Bella Twins, Alicia Fox, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Jillian Hall and all the other Divas. Out first to defend the Women’s Title is Michelle McCool. The WWE Divas Champion Melina is out next to a nice reaction. McCool tries to get the jump on Melina, attacking her during her entrance, but Melina avoids it and McCool sails to the outside. McCool is quick to get back into the ring and the bell rings, kicking this one off properly. McCool and Melina lock up, fighting to the outside. McCool slaps Eve in the face before running back into the ring. Melina is right back in as well, hitting a weird headscissors into a kick in the face. Melina and McCool go for kicks at the same time, but McCool is the only one that sells. Melina pounds on McCool in the corner before tying her up in the ropes. Melina goes to the top, but McCool tosses her to the outside where no one touches her. Melina climbs back into the ring and walks right into a flipping neckbreaker. McCool kicks away at Melina, working over her stomach, before grinding her forearm into Melina’s face. McCool scissors Melina’s head, grabbing onto the ropes for extra leverage and forcing a break of the hold. McCool goes for the faith breaker, but Melina fights out of it into a face buster. Melina attacks McCool with punches and kicks, but McCool comes right back with a belly to belly suplex. Natalya actually tries to pull McCool to the outside, distracting the ref during a Melina roll up. McCool goes to the outside where she’s immediately jumped by everyone before being rolled back into the ring. Melina hits a double knees to McCool’s back before trying to do the Matrix to avoid a kick from McCool. McCool misses, but she comes right back, slamming Melina down to the mat by her hair. Both women go to the top turnbuckle and fall outside and no one touches either until Melina rolls back into the ring. Everyone attacks McCool. Layla is in for some reason trying to fight Melina. Melina throws her to the outside and McCool comes back in with a big boot to Melina’s face. McCool pins Melina and gets the three count. Winner and New Unified Women’s Champion: Michelle McCool - After the match, Layla jumps back in the ring to celebrate with Michelle McCool. They hug and leave together with both women’s belts.
